Senior Finance and Accounting Officer
Department: Finance Department Reports To: Accounting Manager
1. Role Purpose and Summary
The Senior Finance and Accounting Officer is a critical role responsible for bridging the gap between operational accounting and strategic financial analysis. This position works closely with the Accounting Manager to execute General Ledger (G/L) tasks and ensure the integrity of the monthly closing process. It also involves working closely with the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) teams to ensure seamless financial operations. Simultaneously, the role supports the Business Manager with high-level financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and audit compliance. It requires a strong technical accountant who can also interpret data to support decision-making.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1 Accounting Operations & Month-End Closing

Month-End Lead: Assist the Accounting Manager in executing the full month-end closing process, ensuring all timelines are met according to the school and regional schedule.

General Ledger (GL): Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger by preparing and posting complex journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and adjustments.

Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Perform detailed monthly reconciliations of key balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly to ensure a "clean" balance sheet.

Fixed Assets: Oversee the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate recording of additions, disposals, and monthly depreciation charges.
2.2 Financial Analysis & Reporting

Variance Analysis: Analyze monthly financial results against budget and forecast, investigating significant variances and providing clear commentary to the Business Manager.

Recurring Reports: Prepare and update recurring financial management reports (e.g., P&L dashboards, expense analysis, cash flow actuals) for internal stakeholders and regional submission.

Data Integrity: Regularly audit accounting data to ensure correct cost center allocation and coding, improving the accuracy of financial reports.

Ad-Hoc Projects: Support all new or ad-hoc projects assigned by the Accounting Manager or Business Manager, ensuring timely completion and high-quality delivery for special initiatives.
2.3 Budgeting & Forecasting

Budget Preparation: Support the Accounting Manager/Business Manager in the annual budgeting process by consolidating departmental data, preparing templates, and analyzing historical trends.

Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of periodic financial forecasts (e.g., 5+7, 9+3), updating assumptions based on actual performance and new business intelligence.
2.4 Audit, Tax & Compliance

External Audit: Act as a key focal point for external auditors during interim and year-end audits, preparing schedules and providing supporting documentation.

Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation and review of statutory tax filings (PND, VAT, WHT) to ensure full compliance with Thai tax regulations.

Internal Controls: Work with the Accounting Manager to monitor and test internal controls, ensuring school policies are strictly followed.
3. Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
About You

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum 5-7 years of experience in accounting and financial analysis, preferably in a multinational or educational environment.

Strong technical accounting knowledge with hands-on experience in month-end closing.

Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and present it clearly to management.
Specific Competencies

System Proficiency: Advanced user of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP) and experience with ERP systems (Navision/Microsoft Dynamics preferred).

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in work, especially regarding GL maintenance and reporting.

Proactive Mindset: Ability to work independently, identify issues, and propose solutions without constant supervision.

Adaptability: Able to manage multiple deadlines (reporting, tax, audit) effectively in a dynamic school environment.
