Job Purpose

The assistant works alongside teachers to promote effective teaching and learning while providing active supervision in the classroom to help maintain a safe environment for all students.

This role includes supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) in a primary school setting. It involves working closely with the class teacher and SEN coordinator to provide tailored support that enhances the learning experience of pupils with diverse needs.

Flexibility is essential, as the assistant must adapt to the needs of a growing school and actively contribute to its development and expansion.

Required Skills/Abilities

Qualifications / Training:

A teaching degree, such as a bachelor's degree in primary education or a related field.

Relevant qualifications, including CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, NVQ, or an equivalent certification.

Training in Autism Awareness, ADHD, PECS, Makaton, or other SEN-related courses is preferred.

Knowledge:

Native-level English.

Strong references from previous employers.

Native or C2 level proficiency in Spanish and/or Catalan.(Desirable)

Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a primary school setting.

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.

Skills:

Ability to build strong relationships within a team and contribute to a positive working environment.

Capacity to create an engaging, supportive, and effective learning atmosphere.
