Job Summary

Oakridge International School Bangalore, Is looking for a passionate, experienced, and student-centred MYP English Teacher to join our IB School. The role involves planning and delivering engaging English learning experiences aligned with the IB Middle Years Programme, while supporting students in developing strong communication, critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and inquiry skills.

Job Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate English lessons aligned with the IB MYP framework.

Develop learning experiences that promote inquiry, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and reflection.

Teach English language and literature concepts through relevant and engaging learning experiences.

Design and implement units of inquiry and learning activities aligned with MYP objectives and approaches to teaching and learning.

Use a variety of teaching strategies, resources, and assessment methods to meet diverse student learning needs.

Differentiate instruction to support students with varied abilities, learning styles, and individual needs.

Assess and monitor student learning, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate academic records.

Support students in developing reading, writing, speaking, listening, research, and analytical skills.

Encourage students to become independent, confident, reflective, and responsible learners.

Integrate appropriate digital tools and educational technology to enhance learning.

Maintain a positive, inclusive, safe, and student-centred classroom environment.

Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences and promote the IB Learner Profile.

Participate in parent meetings, school events, professional development programmes, and co-curricular activities.

Maintain effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Follow school policies, safeguarding procedures, health and safety guidelines, and IB standards
.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of English language and literature and effective teaching methodologies.

Understanding of the IB MYP framework, inquiry-based learning, and concept-driven teaching.

Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and organisational skills.

Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learning needs.

Strong assessment, feedback, and student progress-monitoring skills.

Proficiency in educational technology and digital learning tools.

Creative, reflective, flexible, and committed to continuous professional learning.

Qualifications And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Literature, or a related field required.

B.Ed., M.Ed., or relevant teaching qualification preferred.

Previous teaching experience at the middle school or secondary level is required.

Experience teaching English in an IB MYP environment is preferred.

Familiarity with MYP assessment practices, approaches to teaching and learning, and Learner Profile attributes is an advantage.

Experience in an international or multicultural school environment is preferred.
