The role requires flexibility and excellent communication with the boarding staff, the students and the parents.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

  • Providing a high quality of pastoral care, “in loco parentis” (listening, caring, follow-up), in coordination with the School Counselling department and school nurses when appropriate.
  • Encouraging students to always behave appropriately and to be their best as members of a boarding community, where differences are celebrated and respected by all.
  • Providing a good follow up to each single student and keep the Boarding team informed as well as parents.
  • Implementing the Boarding House Code of Conduct and House rules, ensuring that alongside sanctions, rewards are also provided for the deserving boarders.
  • Contributing to the activity program
  • Staying abreast of latest developments through training opportunities.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCES

You are an energetic, enthusiastic, team player, but also resistant to pressure and well organised. You have a good sense of humour and believe in positive and respectful relationships. You have excellent interpersonal skills, especially with students. Your level of English is excellent. At least one successful experience in working with children and young people is a prerequisite.
You will be exhausted at the end of the day, but the rewards will be extraordinary!

As a Full-time House Parent you will get one day off per week and one weekend every other week. Accommodation and meals in a Boarding House will be provided when on duty.  You need to have your own accommodation for your days off.

Please note that applications are open to European citizens or holders of a Swiss work permit.

CRUCIAL INFORMATION

It is important that the post holder is always aware of Child Protection guidelines and observes a professional distance from students whilst still developing effective working and caring relationships.
