MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Activity Leader specialising in Science Lab oversees students from all over the world, ranging in age from 8 to 18 years. The responsibilities include creating and leading Science Lab activities for students in the mornings, as well as supervising other activities and animations according to the established schedule during the afternoons. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welcoming and monitoring children from 8 to 18 years;
  • Accompanying and supervising children mornings and afternoon;
  • Entertaining by thinking, planning and delivering Science related activities in the mornings;
  • Activities will comprise a blend of biology, physics, and chemistry, with laboratory sessions and occasional outdoor;
  • Ensuring the safety of children during all trips in or out of the Summer Camp;
  • Being responsible for children’s hygiene and safety;
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety rules of Collège du Léman and respecting the material and the areas.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Qualification

You must have relevant experience in delivering scientific activities to kids. A suitable qualification in one of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics is required.

Skills & Experience

  • Successful experience in supervising children from 8 to 18 years old ideally in an international setting: camps, extracurricular activities;
  • Experience in teaching and developing Sciences lab activities for students;
  • Responsible and autonomous;
  • Languages required: English and French (Russian, Japanese, Chinese or Arabic is a plus);
  • Ability to lead activities in English;
  • Ability to foster a positive relationship with students is paramount – firm but empathetic and fair;

  • Motivated, dynamic, flexible, professional, organized, and creative  
  • Sports oriented (in order to participate in various sporting activities arranged for the children)
  • Ability to work in a team environment is vital. However, you are able to build and run the program in full autonomy;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent communication abilities, are essential to enable the effective reassurance of both children and parents;
  • Lastly, you demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

Additional
You are over 21 years old with European citizenship or Swiss work permit.

 

CONDITIONS 

The summer camp is planned over 3 sessions from June 30th to August 10th, 2024. 

Dates:    

  • Session 1: June 30th to July 13th, 2024 
  • Session 2: July 14th to July 27th, 2024 
  • Session 3: July 28th to August 10th, 2024 

Please note that the preference will be given to candidates available to work several sessions. 

The Activity Leader will be provided accommodation on campus in shared rooms if needed.
