JOB PURPOSE:
The Upper Elementary IB Teacher plays a central role in fostering the academic, social, and emotional growth of students within the Primary Years Program (PYP). This role involves creating a supportive, inquiry-driven classroom environment where students develop a love for learning and cultivate the skills, attitudes, and knowledge necessary to become independent, lifelong learners.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential

Bachelor's degree in education, or a relevant subject (e.g., Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education).

A teaching credential or certification recognized by the country of employment.

Preferably a master's degree in education, Curriculum Design, or a related field.

Certification or completion of IB Professional Development workshops for the Primary Years Programme (PYP).

Familiarity with IB PYP principles, including inquiry-based learning, international-mindedness, and transdisciplinary themes.

Fluency in English (or the language of instruction).

Proficiency in a second language is often preferred, especially in international schools.
EXPERIENCE

Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience at the primary level, preferably in an IB PYP setting.

Experience in leading homeroom responsibilities, including managing a classroom environment and fostering a cohesive learning community.

Proven experience in planning and delivering inquiry-based and concept-driven lessons.

Skilled in integrating transdisciplinary themes across subjects.

Familiarity with formative and summative assessments in an IB context.

Ability to use student assessment data to inform teaching and support individualized learning.

Experience with incorporating educational technology to enhance learning (e.g., digital portfolios, online collaboration tools).

Proficiency in using platforms like Office 365, Manage Bac, iSam, or similar.

Experience working collaboratively with colleagues on curriculum planning and student support.

Ability to lead parent-teacher conferences and communicate effectively with families about student progress.
