Job Description

The IB PYP Teacher is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and inquiry-based learning environment that supports the academic and personal development of all students. Aligned with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), this role includes co-planning with colleagues, delivering engaging and differentiated instruction, assessing student progress, and building strong partnerships with families. The teacher is expected to model the school’s values and contribute to the ongoing development of the educational program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that reflect IB PYP principles, focusing on inquiry, student agency, and concept-based learning.

  • Collaborate with grade-level and specialist teams to design and implement transdisciplinary units.

  • Use assessment strategies (formative and summative) to track student progress and inform instruction.

  • Differentiate learning experiences to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.

  • Foster a positive classroom culture through strong relationships and clear expectations for behavior.

  • Maintain accurate records of student learning and prepare professional progress reports.

  • Communicate effectively with parents through conferences, updates, and ongoing feedback.

  • Participate actively in team meetings, professional development sessions, and school events.

  • Support students’ social-emotional growth through daily interactions and pastoral care practices.

  • Contribute to the school’s broader learning community through initiatives, projects, and events.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field (required).

  • Valid teaching certification and a minimum of two years’ teaching experience (required).

  • Knowledge and/or experience with the IB PYP or similar inquiry-based curricula (preferred).

  • Strong classroom management and differentiation skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in co-teaching and team planning settings.

  • High proficiency in English (spoken and written); Spanish language skills are a plus.

  • Competence in using digital tools for planning, teaching, and communication.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse school communities.
