Job Description

General Purpose

The School HR Generalist plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources functions within the school system. This position involves a combination of administrative tasks, employee relations, talent acquisition, and compliance management. The School HR Generalist serves as a point of contact for employees, fosters a positive work environment, and ensures that HR policies and procedures align with educational goals. 

Reporting to:  Director of Human Resources

Other Key Relationships: Leadership Management, active employees, vendors, volunteers, inactive employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate employee records in personnel files and HRIS.
  • Provide administrative support for stipends, official letters, reports, and confidential documentation.

  • Monitor employee compliance with policies, procedures, and mandatory trainings.

  • Support leave tracking and documentation (annual, sick, maternity).

  • Assist with data preparation for internal and external audits.

  • Communicate effectively across all organizational levels and with external partners.

  • Ensure timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding HR tasks.

  • Respond to employee inquiries, escalating complex issues as needed.

Payroll Support

  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee payroll-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Collect and submit payroll-related documents to the Payroll Assistant for processing.
  • Ensure that all payroll submissions have the required approvals and are delivered on time.
  • Communicate updates such as new hires, terminations, and compensation changes to the Payroll Assistant.
  • Share overtime reports and other payroll-relevant data with the Payroll Assistant.
  • Review and confirm accuracy of payroll data before final processing by the Payroll Assistant.

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in HR roles, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proficient in HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and Microsoft Office Suite.
