Nord Anglia Education, the world’s leading international schools’ organisation is looking for a Principal to drive the development and ongoing success of The British School of Guangzhou (BSG).
BSG is an all-through international day school known for its supportive and welcoming community, made up of over 40 nationalities. Operated by NAE since 2014, the school provides extraordinary learning opportunities to students aged 18 months to 18 years. The school follows the English National Curriculum frameworks from EYFS through Key Stages 1-3. In KS4, the school provides the IGCSE pathway and offers A Levels post-16. With a focus on individualised learning, BSG’s rigorous curriculum ensures students have a holistic, creative and challenging learning experience. The school has recently been consolidated onto one campus with newly constructed Early Years provision and a separate Secondary Building.
In 2024, The school’s IGCSE cohort achieved a 100% pass rate with 60% achieving A* - A grades and 92% achieving A*- C. A Level graduates exceeded expectations with a 99% pass rate and 69% achieving A*- A from our cohort of 19 Year 13 students.
BSG graduates consistently progress into the world’s top 100 universities in UK, USA, Hong Kong, Canada and beyond. Over the last 2 years out of combined graduating classes of 50 students, 4 graduates have secured places at Oxford or Cambridge (with 2 interviews pending) and 3 places at Imperial College London. Almost half (48%) of BSG graduates in the last 2 years have secured places at the world’s top 50 universities

THE ROLE
The Principal will inspire, lead, develop and manage all aspects of school life, including playing a key role in nurturing the values and culture of the school. Critical to their success will be the continued delivery of the school’s distinctive educational offer and unerring focus on achieving the very highest standards and building strong purposeful relationships within the community.
The successful applicant will:
• Be an excellent communicator and compelling storyteller.
• Understand how to blend the best of premium education with contemporary international thinking to maintain a distinctive positioning for the school.
• Understand that leading learning is at the heart of school leadership and will lead a team committed to delivering this.
• Drive the marketing and admissions process of the school with passion and a focus on quality that grows both the school and the school’s reputation.
• Collaborate and build high performing teams, inspiring sustainable relationships.
• Engage with students, teachers, parents, and community leaders in a manner that is open, inclusive and conveys the values of NAE.
• Manage financial budgets and commercial aspects of the school with astuteness and engage with, and contribute successfully to, the wider organisation.
• Demonstrate the ability to create and execute a strategic plan and manage complex projects.
In addition, the appointed candidate will also:
• Hold a recognised teaching qualification, at least at Bachelor degree level.
• Demonstrate evidence of ongoing professional development.
• Have direct experience of working with the English National Curriculum and post-16 education with a sound knowledge of A Levels.
• Bring experience of school leadership within an environment of scale and complexity.
• Be comfortable managing growth and change.
