British Vietnamese International School Hanoi is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Language Support (Primary) to join our committed team of educators. This role will be essential in driving the success of our EAL and VAL programs, supporting students’ language acquisition and academic progress, and fostering a rich, bilingual learning environment.

 

About the Role


The Head of Language Support will collaborate closely with teachers and teaching assistants, providing leadership to ensure effective communication, support, and resources across the department. Key responsibilities include leading meetings, overseeing EAL/VAL interventions, coordinating with year leaders, and supporting curriculum development for language-rich learning. This role will work with the Primary Leadership Team to monitor student progress, facilitate smooth transitions across key stages, and support targeted interventions for students needing additional support.

About You


The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a strong background in teaching and language support, ideally in a bilingual or international context.

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills, with experience mentoring and appraising teaching staff.

  • Be adept at coordinating curriculum and language programs, particularly for EAL/VAL students.

  • Be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment and promoting high standards of academic achievement.

Selection Process

 

The closing date for application is Friday 29th  of November 2024 although we encourage early applications and reserve the right to pursue good applications as soon as we are ready.

The interview will be conducted online.

Applications should contain an application letter and full CV (including photograph, phone number, and contact details of 3 referees – one of whom is your current Head Teacher/Principal). A scanned copy of relevant degree certificates will also need to be provided.
