Position Summary / Job Goals:

The Flag Football Coach is responsible for developing, leading, and implementing a competitive and values-driven flag football program at The Village School. This role emphasizes student-athlete development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic balance while fostering a positive and inclusive team culture. 

Qualifications / Training:

  • Must possess strong knowledge of the coaching position and related responsibilities.
  • Seeking teacher-minded coaches who demonstrate a student-athlete-first philosophy.
  • Coaches must demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and implement new approaches while maintaining a fundamentals-first coaching philosophy.
  • The program emphasizes working smarter, not harder, in the preparation and instruction of student-athletes and in the development of offensive game plans.
  • Must be responsible, dependable, and accountable individuals.
  • Must be able to commit to accountability for the timely start of practices, supervision following practices, and participation in required weekend coaching meetings.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Prior experience coaching flag football or a related sport preferred.
  • High school flag football coaching experience is a plus. 

Attributes:

Prospective candidates should be high-energy, knowledgeable, put a premium on the teaching and instruction of technique(s), and possess good communication skills. 

Reports to / Evaluated by:

 Athletic Director (AD) or Assistant Athletic Director (Asst. AD)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan and organize all aspects of the flag football philosophy, goals, and strategies of the TVS Flag Football program
  • Organize practices, game planning, player meetings, and staff meetings
  • Teach and mentor student-athletes
  • Assist in the organization and implementation of regular practice sessions, competitions, fundraising initiatives, and community service projects
  • Develop and teach strategies to motivate student-athletes to perform at maximum levels as individuals and as a team, while promoting both academic and athletic development
  • Assist with oversight of the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and the playing field 

Other Functions:

  • Support the varsity coach and school administrators in achieving the goals of the athletic program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
