Position Summary / Job Goals:
To deliver high-quality History instruction that sets ambitious expectations and supports all learners in achieving strong academic outcomes. The History Teacher creates a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of historical concepts and perspectives.
Qualifications / Training:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in History or a closely related field
- Valid teaching certification or equivalent professional qualification
- Strong pedagogical knowledge of History instruction, assessment, and differentiation
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development
Experience / Knowledge:
- Demonstrated expertise in History content and effective instructional practices
- Ability to design coherent lesson sequences that build conceptual understanding and analytical skills
- Experience using formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and provide actionable feedback
- Understanding of adolescent development and the ability to personalize instruction based on student needs
- Proven ability to establish and maintain high expectations for academic progress, behavior, and classroom culture
- IB and/or AP teaching experience preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Set ambitious academic expectations and take responsibility for student progress in History
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote critical thinking and historical analysis
- Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment grounded in high behavioral standards
- Use assessment data to monitor learning, differentiate instruction, and provide timely, meaningful feedback
- Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues regarding student progress, achievement, and wellbeing
- Participate actively in professional learning and reflective practice to improve instructional outcomes
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and Nord Anglia Education initiatives
- Uphold safeguarding requirements, inclusion standards, and school values in all interactions
