Position Summary / Job Goals:
To deliver high-quality Social Sciences instruction that sets ambitious expectations and supports all learners in achieving strong academic outcomes. To create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and the development of analytical skills across disciplines such as history, geography, economics, political science, and related fields.
Qualifications / Training:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Social Sciences, History, Geography, Political Science, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or equivalent professional training.
- Strong pedagogical understanding of Social Sciences instruction, assessment, and differentiation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of Social Sciences content and effective instructional practices.
- Designs coherent sequences of lessons that deepen understanding and develop critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Uses formative and summative assessment to guide instruction, diagnose learning needs, and provide actionable feedback.
- Understands how young people develop and personalizes instruction based on ability, background, interests, and learning needs.
- Creates and maintains high expectations for student progress, behavior, and classroom culture.
- IB and/or AP teaching experience is preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Set ambitious expectations for all students and take responsibility for their academic progress in Social Sciences.
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote critical thinking, analysis, and deeper understanding of social, historical, economic, and political systems.
- Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment rooted in high standards of behavior and mutual respect.
- Use assessment data to monitor learning, adjust instruction, differentiate support, and provide timely, meaningful feedback.
- Communicate regularly with parents and colleagues regarding student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
- Participate actively in professional learning, reflect on teaching practice, and implement strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and wider Nord Anglia Education initiatives, fostering collaboration and global citizenship.
- Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values in all interactions.
