TVS is actively recruiting for a Substitute Nurse!
You’ll help us work in the school on a temporary basis when the full-time nurse is absent for Prek - 12th grades.

Your role will impact the organisation by working similar duties of a full-time nurse: you will assess the health of students and treat minor illnesses and injuries.
Job Description
- Act as a professional teammate, working productively with and respectfully towards their colleagues so that all feel valued, supported, and part of the team.
- Work with students (Prek - 12th) and staff.
- Provide first aid, nursing care and medical services to students and staff
- Collect and process student’s daily/emergency medications and ensure all relevant paperwork is properly documented. Administer these medications to students. Assist all teachers by providing first aid supplies in classrooms.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Ensure information relevant to students with significant health issues shared with the team of nurses.
- Ensure all teachers and relevant parties such as administrative assistants are given access to the SNAP health portal, which provides details of students with “health concerns”. Provide on-going teaching of the SNAP system to new and returning staff.
- Communicate with parents regarding individual students and serve as a liaison between school personnel, families, health care professionals, and the community.
- Maintain inventory of clinics, following school ordering procedures to ensure budget is controlled.
- Review physical health forms for health screening information and accuracy.
- Collaborate with third party health care providers to support high level of continued health care of students.
- Support residential life nurses within this field of nursing when necessary.
- Assist RN/LVN nurses as needed in everyday job duties.
- Treat students and staff as needed and document the visits
- Consult with the other nurses on campus as needed
- Administer medication, both prescription and OTC in accordance with the Texas state law
- Upholding national standards to protect the privacy of student health information
- Follow all rules and regulations set forth by the BNE
- Conduct screenings and write referrals for health services.
- Develop and monitor health plans for students.

Required Skills/Abilities
- Registered Nurse (Rn) license
- Experience in critical, emergency or pediatric nursing
- Strong triage skills
- Knowledge of school laws and policies
- Ability to work well on a team
- Ability to work independently or with others
- Ability to communicate well with others
- Ability to assess situations and act quickly
- BLS/CPR certification
- Knowledge of state health regulations
- Ability to multitask
- Flexibility with campus schedule as needed
