Position Summary / Job Goals:

The Summer Camp Support Staff member plays a key role in creating a safe, engaging, and positive summer experience for students ranging from Early Childhood through Middle School. This position supports the daily execution of recreational, athletic, creative, and educational camp programming while ensuring the safety, well-being, and enjoyment of all participants.

 

Working collaboratively with the Camp Director, Camp Coordinator, Athletic Camp Coordinator, High School Junior Camp Support Staff, Counselors-in-Training (CITs), parents, and vendors, this role ensures smooth daily operations, structured transitions, and consistent supervision aligned with The Village School’s mission and Nord Anglia Education standards.

 

The Summer Camp Support Staff member contributes to fostering resilience, creativity, and global citizenship in alignment with The Village School’s vision and values.

Qualifications / Training:

  • High school diploma required; college coursework in education, recreation, child development, or related field preferred
  • One or more years of experience working with children in a camp, school, childcare, or recreational setting preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft O365 tools (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Forms)
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written communication)

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Experience supervising and engaging children from Early Childhood through Middle School
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate recreational and educational activities
  • Understanding of student safety practices and adherence to health and safety protocols
  • Experience managing schedules, attendance, and structured transitions
  • Ability to support students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds
  • Strong cross-cultural communication skills to work within an international school community

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Student Supervision and Engagement

  • Supervise and actively engage students across assigned grade levels
  • Ensure student safety by strictly adhering to campus Health & Safety protocols
  • Monitor indoor and outdoor activities, including physically active tasks, without restriction
  • Facilitate and support recreational, athletic, and creative activities that promote participation, teamwork, and enjoyment
  • Support smooth parent drop-off and pick-up procedures

Program Support and Operations

  • Assist with daily setup and breakdown of classrooms and outdoor activity areas
  • Support the management of daily schedules, attendance tracking, and grade-level assignments
  • Capture and communicate special student needs (e.g., clinic visits for medication schedules, birthday recognitions, behavior tracking such as tribe points, etc.)
  • Assist with supply management and equipment setup for planned activities
  • Support transitions between combination camps to ensure structured and efficient movement

Communication and Collaboration

  • Maintain positive, professional communication with students, parents, colleagues, and vendors
  • Collaborate effectively with camp leadership, High School support staff, and CITs
  • Provide timely updates regarding attendance, incidents, or operational needs

Compliance and Structure

  • Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements
  • Support a structured, organized, and well-managed camp environment
  • Uphold Nord Anglia Education safeguarding expectations and reporting protocols
