Role

The Village School is looking to fill a Teacher Assistant position. The position is for the 2024-2025 School Year.

Job Description

  • Support positive school culture by engaging with colleagues to think, create, and reflect.
  • Create shared understanding around the goals of world languages, and how that fits in with the various grade levels.
  • Assist in planning and implementing the daily program under the direction of the Lead Teacher, which includes lesson plans.
  • Working with individual students, small and whole groups during instruction/learning.
  • Assist in the monitoring of student progress and maintaining student records.
  • Assist in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centres, preparing displays of student work, and preparing needed materials and supplies.
  • Support the overall development of students – social, emotional, and cognitive.
  • Supervise the classroom when the Lead Teacher is out of the room.
  • Help with the general housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in other ways as requested.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and cooperative working relationships with other professionals.

  • Treat all children with dignity and respect.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  • Participate in professional workshops that work for the improvement of the Primary Program.
  • Maintain confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside of the school.
  • Supervise students outside of the classroom environment, including the playground.
  • Support the mission and goals of the school and programs.
  • Set a professional example in terms of dress, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by teachers and/or administration.
  • Assist the Lead teacher in the sequences of lessons that introduce knowledge and skills to students in a coherent way so that they deepen understanding, make connections, and master increasingly complex skills.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent document.
  • At least one year of experience working with children.
  • Training in effective instructional methods.
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
