Reports To: Head of Department / Academic Coordinator
Job Purpose
To deliver engaging, rigorous, and concept-driven Chemistry instruction to Senior Secondary students, preparing them for board examinations, competitive examinations, and higher education while fostering scientific thinking, curiosity, and practical laboratory skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality Chemistry lessons for Grades 11 and 12.
- Develop students' conceptual understanding of physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry.
- Prepare students effectively for board examinations and other relevant assessments.
- Design engaging lessons using inquiry-based, experiential, and student-centred teaching approaches.
- Conduct practical laboratory sessions and ensure students follow appropriate laboratory safety procedures.
- Develop lesson plans, assessments, worksheets, question papers, and other learning resources.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Identify learning gaps and provide appropriate academic support and intervention.
- Integrate technology, simulations, and digital resources to enhance Chemistry learning.
- Encourage students to participate in science projects, exhibitions, Olympiads, and other academic activities.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and academic progress.
- Collaborate with colleagues, coordinators, and parents to support student development.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development programmes, school events, and other academic responsibilities.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a relevant subject from a recognised university.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge with a clear understanding of Senior Secondary Chemistry curriculum.
- Relevant teaching experience at Grades 11–12 level.
- Experience with CBSE, IGCSE, IB, or other international curricula will be an advantage.
