JOB PURPOSE

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning in IB Diploma Programme (DP) English Language & Literature and/or English Literature for Grades 11 and 12, ensuring outstanding academic outcomes while fostering inquiry, critical thinking, communication, creativity, and a lifelong appreciation for literature aligned with the IB philosophy.
  • Plan, deliver, assess, and continuously enhance learning experiences that develop students' analytical, interpretative, research, writing, and communication skills while maintaining compliance with IB Standards and Practices.
  • Contribute to the wider academic life of the school through pastoral care, curriculum development, collaborative planning, professional learning, and active participation in co-curricular programmes and whole-school initiatives.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS – Qualification, Skills, Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Master's Degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or a related discipline.
  • B.Ed. qualification (mandatory).
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience with IB Diploma Programme English.
  • Experience teaching IB DP English Language & Literature and/or English Literature at Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL).
  • Strong understanding of IB Standards & Practices and DP assessment requirements.
  • Excellent subject knowledge with expertise in literary analysis, language studies, academic writing, and oral assessments.
  • Strong communication, classroom management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

Desirable

  • IB Category 2 or Category 3 English Workshop certification.
  • Experience supporting Extended Essay (EE), Theory of Knowledge (TOK), or CAS.
  • Experience in an international school.
  • Experience preparing students for admission to leading global universities.
