IB-PYP Teacher
Position Overview:
The IB-PYP (International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme) Teacher is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an inquiry-based curriculum in line with IB-PYP guidelines. The teacher will create a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that promotes students’ academic, social, and emotional growth, while fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons following the IB-PYP framework, incorporating inquiry-based learning and concept-driven approaches.
- Develop and implement unit plans, assessments, and learning engagements that encourage inquiry, reflection, and collaboration.
- Guide students through transdisciplinary themes that integrate key subject areas such as language, mathematics, science, social studies, arts, and physical education.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom culture that supports diversity and encourages student agency, voice, and choice.
- Use a range of teaching methods, including cooperative learning, problem-solving, and technology integration, to cater to different learning styles.
- Assess and monitor students' progress regularly, providing timely and constructive feedback to students and parents.
- Collaborate with colleagues in planning interdisciplinary units and participating in school-wide events and activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders, ensuring regular updates on student development and school activities.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated with best practices in IB-PYP pedagogy and curriculum advancements.
- Uphold the values and principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program, promoting international-mindedness, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- A teaching certification or relevant qualification recognized by IB schools.
- Experience teaching within the IB-PYP curriculum framework, with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning.
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to engage and inspire young learners.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Commitment to the IB’s mission of creating a better, more peaceful world through education.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in international or multicultural environments.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into the classroom.
- Familiarity with assessment for learning techniques and reflective practices.
