Teaching Experience: At least 2 years previous teaching experience teaching Art and/or Graphic Communication at the secondary level with a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) or equivalent. Experience teaching in an English curriculum is desirable.

           

About the role

We are seeking an experienced teacher of Graphic Communication (not DT) and or Art who can ideally teach both subjects at Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), with the ability to teach at A-Level standard in at least one subject; the successful candidate will challenge students to set ambitious targets for themselves, inspire them with creative skills and engaging lessons, and utilise innovative teaching practices to enhance student experiences and outcomes.

 

About the department;

We are a dynamic team of three experienced Graphics Communication and Art teachers with a mix of international and UK teaching backgrounds with a technician who supports the Art and Design department. We have dedicated classrooms for Art and Graphic Communication, along with a Photography studio and an A-level rooms. These spaces are fully equipped with traditional materials and all students have access to the Adobe Creative Cloud access. Students enjoy weekly Art and Graphics lessons at Key Stage 3, with the option to specialise in either Art, Craft and Design or Graphic Communication at GCSE and A-level.
 

Key Requirements for Graphic Communication and Art Teacher Position:

 

Mastery of Traditional Media and Materials: The candidate will demonstrate expertise in working with a diverse range of traditional art materials and techniques, including but not limited to drawing, painting, printmaking, collaging, mixed media and sculpture.

 

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: The ideal candidate will be confident in using Adobe software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for Graphic Communication and digital Art projects.

 

Proficiency with Drawing Apps: The candidate will demonstrate proficiency with drawing apps, including familiarity with software and techniques for digital drawing and painting using popular applications such as Procreate or Adobe Fresco.

 

Confidence in Digital Sketchbook Management: The candidate will be confident in guiding students in the use of digital online sketchbooks, ensuring proficiency in layout and organisation.

 

Curriculum Development: The candidate must be able to develop engaging and comprehensive curriculum plans, projects, and schemes of work that adhere to AQA standards. These plans should be designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression among students.


 

Supporting School Events and Enrichment: The candidate should actively participate in school events such as exhibitions, productions, cultural festivals, and community programs. They should showcase students' artwork and advocate for the importance of the arts within and beyond the school community, enriching students' experiences through artistic engagement.

With the ability to create a classroom culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved, you will have a university degree in your specialist subject, a teaching qualification plus considerable teaching experience and knowledge of the curriculum.
