About The Role
The British International School of Kuala Lumpur seeks a creative, open-minded, and professional Music Teacher and pianist to join our leading international school for an initial contract period of two years.
In this role you’ll know your students and use your skills and expertise to provide excellent teaching and support to every student in your care with impeccable professionalism. You will be working with the reknown Juilliard School in New York delivering their creative classroom curriculum alongside your own lesson schemes. You will play a valuable part in the Performing Arts Departments lively Extra Curricular scene. Taking part in and leading some of our school ensembles. You will communicate with confidence across diverse audiences and situations, using your expertise to build strong relationships with parents and students. You’ll model, for students and colleagues, the school’s values: be kind; be resilient; take risks; act with integrity and to be ambitious. This position also plays a role in helping the school develop and improve, with attention to your own teaching and learning, and supporting the professional development of your colleagues.

Academic Results:
· BSKL Primary students regularly exceed expectations, and our Year 6 students perform an average of 10 points better than their international school peers on end of year assessments.
· Amongst our IGCSE cohort 75% of all grades achieved were A*, A, or B and 95% of all grades achieved a C or higher in 2024.
· In A-levels and 55% of all grades achieved were A*, or A, in 2024.
· Previous university placements include Oxford University, St. Andrew’s University, University College London, London School of Economics, King’s College London, Imperial College, Durham University, and University of Edinburgh.
About You
You will be an extremely capable pianist, possess a university degree, a recognised teaching qualification and at least three years of teaching experience. You must also be able to meet the visa-related requirements for Malaysia including (valid passport, Bachelor’s degree, updated CV, passport size picture, marital status). All successful candidates will undergo a criminal background check and must meet all applicable safeguarding requirements.
