We’re looking to recruit an outstanding Head of Humanities to join our Manila school, a Nord Anglia Education school.

THE ROLE

 

You will be outstanding, passionate and dynamic Humanities Teacher, with the ability to teach some Key Stage 3 English, to join our dedicated, hardworking, and collaborative secondary team. NAIS Manila is an incredibly exciting phase of its development, and the right candidate will have the opportunity to not only launch an exciting and highly sort after subject, but also shape the future development of a rapidly growing school.

 

You will be an exceptional Humanities teacher, who has experience teaching IGCSE History and/or Geography with experience of the CAIE examination requirements being highly desirable.

 

Additionally, you will be a significant part of developing students social and emotional wellbeing and ensuring our students are developing the 21st century learner skills needed to prepare them for the next stage of their life’s journey.

 

As a genuine team-player, you’ll work not only with the rest of the Nord Anglia Manila secondary team, but across also with our regional and central teams to ensure that the highest quality lessons are taught and to ensure that everything we do is connected to our vision to create a generation of resilient and creative global citizens who will change our world for the better. 

 

KEY RESULTS AREA

 

ENGAGEMENT AND INTERACTION – SCHOOL AMBASSADOR TO INTERNAL COMMUNITY

 

- Know how to prepare and present informative reports to parents in a professional manner based upon monitoring procedures adhered to within the school

- Facilitate parental engagement by ensuring Home Learning tasks are presented comprehensively and detail how parents can assist their children

 

LEARNING AND TEACHING

 

- Ensure the effective teaching and management of classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained and the best use is made of teaching time

- Use teaching methods which will engage students and stimulate pupils’ intellectual curiosity including the use of effective questioning, clear presentation and good use of resources

 

PLANNING AND PREPARATION

 

- Identify clear teaching objectives, content, structures, and sequences of lessons appropriate to the educational needs of the pupils in his/her class

Planning should show clear understanding of the Year group expectations and lead to progression within lessons and over sequences of lessons

 

PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

 

- Understand the need to take responsibility for their own professional development and to keep up to date with research and developments in pedagogy as relevant to their own department and mainstream departments.

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS

 

  • UK PGCE (with QTS) or Equivalent
  • Detailed up-to-date knowledge of the English National Curriculum
  • Proven track record with at least two years' teaching experience
  • Experience teaching History at IGCSE and A-Levels
  • Experience with the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level curriculums
  • Understanding of effective teaching and learning theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all children through classroom organization, differentiation and learning strategies
  • Experience of or desire to teach/work in an international setting
  • Experience of using technology to improve teaching and learning
  • Strong understanding of teaching EAL students
  • Excellent understanding of Assessment methodologies
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for producing reports and presentations.
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.

SELECTION PROCESS: There will be three stages of interview, including a panel interview.  First stage interviews will be conducted via online video calls and final interviews will take place at the Nord Anglia Education Recruitment Event in central London in the week commencing 22nd January 2025 (alternative arrangements will be made for candidates who cannot attend in person).
