Key Results Area
Location: Miami, FL (Hybrid)
Job Purpose: Working closely with the accounting team with the objective to achieve accurate and timely financial statements and monthly management accounts for schools within the Americas region.
This position manages the full aspects of accounting for designated schools or business units as required/requested to do so. The role will also be responsible for review of balance sheet reconciliation review for non-centralised schools.
Operational Expertise & Resource Management
- Prepare journal entries, financial statements, account reconciliations and analysis for schools
- Assist in in budgeting and forecasting process, including monthly variance analysis
- Assist with capital expenditure and fixed asset accounting
- Reconcile inter-company accounts between schools
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Collaborate with schools in all accounting and finance matters
- Accountant duties and responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to support school finance teams and FP&A.
- Analyze accounting data to support insightful decision making
- Prepare schedules for annual audit and provide support, as needed
- Ensure department transactions are processed in accordance with company-prescribed controls and policies
- Ad hoc projects as assigned
Developing Talent
- Act as an ambassador for employee engagement, driving change and supporting two-way communication through regular contact with schools.
- Develop the skillset of school finance personnel through training
Personal Specifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, tri-lingual (preferred)
- Education industry experience (preferred)
- CPA (preferred)
- 2 - 3 years’ experience in financial reporting and general accounting
- Public accounting background is a plus
- Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of accounting systems required
- Microsoft Dynamics / Navision experience a plus
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding attention to detail
- Relationship builder, comfortable interacting with others
- Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to complete projects
- Minimal travel
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and able to prompt others to ensure deadlines are achieved
