You will:

Promote the mission and philosophy of the school, ensuring that students are working

towards being true global citizens;
• Be flexible and adjust to the needs of the school, actively contributing to its development
plans and growth;
• Assist with supervising students during breaks and lunch as per the school’s timetable and
duty rota;
• Demonstrate a willingness to take part in extra-curricular activities, both locally and
nationally;
• Communicate effectively the school’s narrative, being an ambassador for our school at all

• Set a good example to students in the way that you conduct yourself within and beyond the
school.
Learning and Teaching
• Ensure that planning, preparation, recording assessment and reporting are of the highest
quality and meet the varying learning and social needs of the students;
• Set high expectations for student behaviour, establishing and maintaining a high standards
of behaviour management and a safe instructive environment at all times;
• Promote and foster a student-centred learning environment where students are nurtured to
develop independence, autonomy, critical thinking, and creativity;
• Use a variety of methodologies which will stimulate learning appropriate to student needs
and the demands of subject specifications;
• Assess and monitor learning attainment and progress against standard criteria, including
input into the database system;
• Complete written reports, organise parent consultations and meetings as appropriate with
school stakeholders;
• Mark, grade and give both written and verbal feedback on students’ work on a frequent,
regular basis, with attention to individual learning based on assessment;
• Support students with emotional, behavioural, and learning needs;
• Undertake routine tasks to support curriculum delivery and assist with enrichment learning
activities such as; themed days, outings, field trips, events.
Planning and Preparation
• Make effective use of formative and summative assessment to plan challenging learning
opportunities for students;
• Planning shows clear understanding of year group and syllabus expectations and leads to
progression in learning for all students;
• Planning for learning is differentiated so that all students are suitably challenged to develop
higher level skills;
• Planning for learning fosters and facilitates student independence, autonomy, critical
thinking, creativity;
• Engage in curriculum review cycle.
Professional and Personal Development
• Attend and contribute to staff meetings as required;
• Commit to continual development through the identification and implementation of your
own Personal Development Plan;
• Understand the need to take responsibility for your own professional development and
keep up to date with research and development in pedagogy as relevant to your role;
• Set a good example to students in the way that you conduct yourself within and beyond the
school.
Skills Knowledge and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Teaching qualification
• Prior experience in an international school
• Experience teaching IBDP English A Language & Literature (or equivalent) to
senior students
• Experience teaching TOK to senior students
• Familiarity with the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) or
equivalent
• Ability to integrate technology into the classroom experience to enhance and
extend the learning of students
• Ability to engage students and enable them to achieve highly
• Fluent in written and spoken English
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Other
• Hold a current Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure or equivalent for countries
lived in outside of the UK.
• Compliance with visa/ work permit requirements for working in The Netherlands.

Secondary English Teacher (ability to teach IB TOK or Secondary humanities is an advantage). 
We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced teacher of Secondary English to teach across our Secondary School (up to and including IB DP English A) in our small international school in Rotterdam.
