Job Description

BCB Head of Secondary JD

 

We’re looking to recruit a Head of Secondary to join our team at The British College of Brazil school, a Nord Anglia Education school.

 

We’ll look to you to promote high expectations for our students, designing learning activities that are aligned to our school’s Secondary curriculum and creating a learning culture where there are no limits to what can be achieved. You will foster an environment of respect within the classroom, facilitating learning through questioning and discussion.

 

As a genuine team-player, you’ll work across our teams to promote the Mission, Vision, and the Values of the school. You will ensure that teaching and learning meets the expectations of the school.

 

A key member of the School Leadership Team, you will provide direction, inspiration and guidance to our secondary teaching staff. Focused on developing a high performing team, the Head of Secondary will work collaboratively with the Secondary Leadership Team to offer leadership, inspiration, and guidance to all members of the secondary school. They will play a major role in deciding on future academic direction and be responsible for student outcomes, and to work effectively with all members of the Whole School Leadership Team.

 

About you

 

Able to drive excellence by valuing and developing others, you will be a qualified teacher with extensive experience of both hands-on teaching and management in education. This means you will be fully up to date with curriculum developments. Strong on leadership and people management, you will have a flair for setting and meeting challenging performance targets. 

 

Able to work with a high degree of cultural sensitivity in our changing and fast-paced international environment, you will have the ability to use a range of communication strategies and channels. Your strong commercial, financial, market and organisational awareness will enable you to devise effective solutions to complex business challenges.

 

A strong ambassador for the school, you will be able to develop new ways to engage students and parents with the wider school and Nord Anglia Education community. You will also be able to meet visa-related restrictions for Brazil, including relevant educational qualifications.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Qualified to degree level or higher.
  • Qualified teacher Status.
  • Proven track record with at least four years leadership experience.
  • Demonstrable evidence of adapting and innovating curricula.
  • Experience of delivering the English National Curriculum.
  • Experience of IBDP
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience of working in partnership with parents.
  • Good cross-cultural, interpersonal and communication skills to interact with diverse nationalities and cultures.
  • Excellent analytical skills – with the passion and drive to demonstrate and quantify success.
  • Results orientated with the ability to consistently map efforts against identified KPIs.
  • Excellent time management skills and flexibility in dealing with multi-functional tasks.
  • You’d like to work in a purpose-led sector.
  • NPQH or master’s level qualification.
  • Experience of working with EAL pupils.
  • Experience of managing budgets effectively.
  • International experience.
  • Experience of iGCSE
